Hazel Gumera
Hazel brings more than a decade of experience advising clients on the leasing, acquisition, disposition, and development of commercial properties, including office, retail, and restaurant assets. Drawing on both in-house and private practice roles, she guides clients through the full life cycle of investments, from negotiating leases and purchase agreements to closing complex transactions, with a practical, business-focused approach.
Before joining Valence, Hazel served as in-house counsel for a national real estate investment trust in California, where she managed a substantial real estate portfolio, led acquisitions and dispositions (including 1031 exchanges), and supported leasing, development, and operations across the Western United States. She also practiced with firms in Florida, representing international retail and franchise clients with extensive multi-state portfolios, negotiating hundreds of leases, and providing strategic counsel that facilitated significant business expansion.
Most recently, Hazel served as corporate counsel for a leading satellite television and wireless provider, where she supported the nation’s first commercial 5G VoNR network deployment. She drafted and negotiated a wide range of wireless infrastructure and real estate agreements, including leases, licenses, easements, amendments, and ancillary contracts with public and private landlords, and partnered with internal stakeholders to advance the company’s wireless initiatives.
Hazel is admitted to practice in New York, Florida, and Georgia. She earned her J.D. from New York Law School and her B.A. in Sociology from the University of Virginia.
In her free time, Hazel enjoys spending time with family, traveling, cooking, running, and yoga.
